Burning Sky is a small, independently run brewery founded by long time brewer Mark Tranter.

Since our inception in 2013, we have been brewing clean and mixed fermentation beers across all formats, to both national and international acclaim.

We are looking for a passionate, organised and driven Senior Brewer to manage our brewery production and lead our small brewing team.

Working under the direction of the Founder the successful candidate will have a critical eye in the efficient running of the brewery, leading the team, delivering consistency of our core products plus working with the founder to develop new beers, including those within our barrel ageing project, collaborations and one offs.

This is an excellent opportunity, with room to further develop in this role in a well respected brewery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing, motivating and managing the production team
  • Carrying out regular staff reviews
  • Staff training where applicable
  • Responsible for production scheduling
  • Review and manage processes to ensure the highest levels of consistency and quality
  • Maintain record keeping and quality control to a high standard
  • Managing and scheduling of raw material contracts including day to day ordering to maintain our schedule
  • Work with the sales team and operations director to ensure availability and delivery of core products
  • Oversee and take ultimate responsibility for upkeep and improvements to beer quality
  • Research new methods, processes and materials to improve quality and deliver progressive products
  • Take the lead in implementing any new equipment aquired to improve quality and efficiencies
  • Manage the maintenance of all brewing equipment to ensure it is fully functional at all times
  • Represent Burning Sky at selected events across the UK and abroad

We are looking for:

  • A genuine passion to create quality beer
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in brewing
  • Experience with all forms of packaging (especially canning lines & kegging)
  • Ideally a relevant technical degree (e.g. engineering, brewing) and or, IBD Diploma in Brewing, or equivalent
  • Some experience in leading a small staff team
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to adapt and remain calm when problems arise
