Amongst all the hubbub and enthusiasm for our ‘Four Friends’ release, we forgot to mention that Cuvée 2019 is also available for pre-order here, with a launch here.
We believe that this is our finest blend of Cuvée yet and illustrates how our learning has progressed. It is a celebration, a beer to look forward to each year, as wine aficionado’s do – to see how the subtle changes effect each release, the interplay between the barrel, the beer and nature.
This year the blend is thus:
67% Saison Provision from foudre 1 (2500 litres), and 2 x 225 litre barrels from a solera system.
27% Girardin lambic from the 2017/ 2018 brewing season, imported by us in May 2018 and aged in 500 litre ex cognac barrels.
6% Girardin lambic from the 2016/ 2017 brewing season, imported by us in May 2017 and aged in 225 litre ex Chardonnay barrel.
Both the use of different ages of beer and different sized barrels really help to set this one apart. 1000 litres has been given over to extended ageing with another ingredient for what will (hopefully), be an exciting release next year.
